Jump-Starting One Vehicle by Using Another

Before you grab the jumper cables, it is always advised you are wearing protective glasses and work gloves before touching the car battery. To ensure the cables reach, drive the one car as close to the nose of the other car as safely as possible.

Once the jumper cables have been unraveled, you will have a red and black clamp on each end. Start with one red clamp, connect it to the positive side of the charged battery. The other red cable goes to the positive side of battery getting a jump-start. The black jumper cable goes to the minus side of the healthy battery, then to any metal surface on the car needing a jump.

Start the car, then wait a few minutes for the other battery to charge, and try to start the vehicle. It might take a few tries. Never ignore issues with the car battery; come by our Montgomery service center so we can investigate the real issue.
